Teaching
Logistics and house rules Logistics: Every Tuesday AM (apart from bank holidays/public holidays). On Microsoft Teams handover link. Timings: 0730-0740 – QMC Handover 0740-0810 – Teaching Level – aimed at SHOs/junior registrars. Format – Slide based presentation: Aim to discuss salient points to cover beforehand with supervising registrar, 30 minutes total. Good to incorporate some questions/case-based discussions. Please make it as interactive as possible! Supervising registrar should be present to ask questions to the attending trainees. House Rules: A register will be taken every week by the junior in charge of teaching or they nominate a deputy in their absence (Tom Calderbank currently). This register can be shared with the trainees at the end of their time with us for their portfolios, and should be shared with their AES. Every trainee at City is to attend face to face no matter what commitment they have on that day (theatre / clinic / etc…). Trainees at QMC are to attend remotely and can join the trauma meeting after the teaching has finished. Those attending remotely must have camera turned on. Post FRCS trainees and Fellows can choose to not attend, and instead help consent at QMC or City if they are not supervising the session. Those trainees attending remotely must have their camera on and be visible, or they will not be counted as having attended teaching on the register. The SHO must share their presentation with the supervising registrar 1 week in advance. Later than that and the presentation is their responsibility. If they fail to provide a presentation by the Friday before the session then the entire session is their own responsibility!
